Our founding director, Brian Thompson, is a leisure industry veteran whose career and experience spans 30 years in the sector.  

Having spent eight years as an operator in both public and private sector leisure facilities, he moved to an equipment supplier, enjoying 12 years within Technogym UK’s sales division. Brian’s success saw him conclude his time at Technogym as Sales Director for the hospitality sector, growing the market immensely for the company through a number of new, high profile hotel contracts.

Brian’s next move saw him take up a global position with Johnson Health Tech (parent company of Matrix Fitness), and, during his three year tenure, drive the distributor and international sales business across multiple regions, securing lengthy global contracts.  Whilst trading across the new, up and coming markets of Central/Eastern Europe, Turkey, South Africa, and Malaysia, Brian’s role evolved to overseeing new builds, construction and fit out.

This interest and desire brought him back to the UK where he spent seven years as the Commercial Director for a leisure design and build construction firm, Createability, managing and driving growth within the business by defining the company’s sales strategy, managing the sales team, taking the company into new sectors and ultimately growing its turnover significantly. Ensuring all other divisions of the business could support this and, most importantly, that delivery would not be compromised, was key to this success.

Brian holds the business experience and trading knowledge any company wishing to grow or complete any type of project would require, and has set up Black Book Leisure Consultancy to offer value and support to other organisations wishing to grow and succeed.
